The Strong-Tie ABU Adjustable Post Base with Uplift is designed to attach wooden posts to existing concrete in high-capacity applications. The built-in 1″ standoff of this adjustable post base helps to prevent rot at the end of the post. This versatile post base makes a cost-effective option for securing a post to the foundation, with a design built for maximum uplift performance.
Features:
- A slotted hole for the concrete anchor allows for adjustment so you can achieve a perfect post alignment.
- The ZMAX galvanized finish provides a level of corrosion resistance that is acceptable for use with treated lumber and normal outdoor use.
- Has a slotted anchor hole in the base for adjustability and attaches to the post with nails, Strong-Drive® SD Connector screws or bolts
Installation:
- Place the base, load transfer plate and nut on the anchor bolt. Loosely tighten the nut.
- Place the standoff base and then the post in the ABU.
- Fasten using Nails or Bolts – Use only the specified fasteners below.
- Use nails OR bolts. DO NOT install nails and bolts together!
- Post bases do not provide adequate resistance to prevent members from rotating about the base and therefore are not recommended for non top-supported installations (such as fences or unbraced carports).
NOTE: The correct fasteners installed in the correct position must be used to achieve published load values
